Lake Como has great adventurous nature trails that lead to beautiful destinations in the mountains and by the lake. Follow the trails by the lakesides in each town and discover hidden pebbled-beaches with clear blue waters.
Lake Como has become renowned for its cooking school for professionals and amateurs alike, the most luxurious one is in Villa D'este which offers secret cooking tips from a world class chef.
Fishing on Lake Como is popular between end of July and beginning of September, with so much water it offers wonderful places to fish.
There are ample opportunities for hiking in Lake Como ranging from simple, peaceful lakeside strolls to steep mountain paths offering amazing panoramic views of the lake. The most popular mountain hike leads up to Monte Grona nearby Menaggio, where you can drive up to Breglia (6km from Menaggio - follow the signs toward Lugano, Switzerland) and then hike up to the peak located at 1736 meters. There are also rock-climbing opportunities there.
For kids, Jungle Raider Park is a fun adventure park for kids and adults offering obstacle courses amidst in Piano Rancio near Civenna about 12 km up the mountain from Bellagio.
The biggest and best playground for children is located in Mandello del Lario which is about 10 km north of Como in an area called Lido. It has a coast guard, a classic horse carousel, and a big playground within a charming park...all designed with children in mind.
The city of Lugano is just 45 minutes away across the lake, great for exploring cultural attractions. The waterfront promenade at Lugano has a spectacular view of the lake and the paddle steamer runs daily excursions or you visit the upmarket boutiques, shops and cafes.
For those pursuing a more active holiday then sailing, golf (7 exceptional 18-hole golf courses in Lake Como), hiking and extreme sports such as paragliding are all available to enjoy.
Children can enjoy the many famous lidos, designated play parks, crazy golf, or visit Castle Vezio Varenna for a step back into medieval times.
Lake Como is a sailor's paradise. The Tivano and Breva winds blow from the South create ideal conditions for sailing. You can rent sailboats in Como, Bellagio and Domaso.

If you are looking for designers.. Gucci, Versace, Armani or Prada then Milan is close by or you can visit Fox Town, Mendrisio just over the border in Switzerland for some great designer bargains.
Lake Como offers plenty of local markets in Argegno (Monday's) Menaggio (3rd and 4th Friday mornings) Bellagio (3rd Wednesday of each month) or Como market being the biggest on Tuesday, Thursday mornings or Saturday all day. These all offer delicious local produce, food or wine, plus much more.
The ancient fishing village of Domaso offers a long and beautiful beach embraced by the massive mountains at its shoulders. It will be the perfect finish line to find some relax at the end of your walks or bike rides!
Of course, you can always try one of the public lidos that have indoor/outdoor pools such as the "Giordano" in Menaggio, the Lido di Cadenabbia or the Lido at Villa Olmo.
Domaso on the western shore and Dervio on the eastern shore are the capitals of windsurfing and kitesurfing in Lake Como. They are both located in the northern part of the lake since the northern part has more space and the best wind conditions. In Lezzeno near Bellagio you can take instruction on Wakeboarding/water skiing/wake surf or just hire jet ski's for a few hours to enjoy the lake.
Villa Casasco is within easy reach of the cosmopolitan highlights of Milan (1.5 hours drive away) for visiting the fashion capital of the world or indulging in the shopping outlets.
